The Clock

Time can’t be bought.

You get just one shot.

That don’t seem like a lot,

And it’s not.

The clock ticks time away

Hour to hour, day to day.

No words you can say

Will make it stay.

It reads the time true

With no regard for you.

Try to understand

That old second hand

Don’t give a damn

What you had planned.

So don’t gaze at the clock

And watch that pendulum rock.

It does no good to stare.

So live like you don’t care,

Like you just aren’t aware

That clock is there.
