This Is What You Voted For

Well, this is certainly a big surprise.

I thought I’d never see the day.

You finally took the blinkers off your eyes.

Your golden boy has feet of clay.

You never missed a single rally.

He mocked a crippled person, and you laughed.

He owned your mind like a Svengali.

You couldn’t see the bribery and the graft.

This is what you voted for:

Masked men kicking down your door.

As grocery prices soar,

Wall Street drops through the floor.

After all the times he swore

He’d never start a war,

Now he’s sent troops ashore

And tried to muzzle the press corps.

All his friends are heartless billionaires.

He lets them do anything they want to do.

I can’t believe you thought he really cares.

He couldn’t give two fucks for me and you.

You were so sure that he was on your side:

The great defender of the working man.

Are you just now seeing that he’s always lied?

He’ll take your money any way he can.

The White House is a big eyesore

With all that gold trim galore.

And how can you ignore

Losses that we can’t restore?

He was president once before.

You brought him back for an encore

With his orange pompadour.

But you don’t like him anymore.

No, now you don’t like him

Or anybody like him.

Now you don’t like him anymore.
