Tear It Down

There’s a spirit rising that’s leading our country wrong.

Too many people who ought to know better are going along.

They’ve been busy planting their hateful seeds,

And it goes on spreading like an ugly weed.

They want to live in a world where everyone looks the same.

And if you don’t fit in you can go back the way you came.

They say God is on their side, but how can that be,

When Jesus would never get in their gated community?

Tear it down. Rip it apart.

Cut away its rotten heart.

The only thing we have to fear is fear.

Tear it up. Rip it out.

Don’t let there be any doubt.

We’re making clear it isn’t welcome here.

With all their speeches and all the flags they wave,

They say traditional values have got to be saved.

But I never listen to what they have to say.

I know that their world isn’t the American way.
