Always You

This bottle and I have been up all night,

Just staring into the firelight,

Since you said we were through.

To know your love’s no longer mine

Makes me want to cross that line.

But you wouldn’t want me to.

The dark and lonely hours have brought a cold and lonely dawn,

While I thought about what was and what could be.

I know I won’t forget you however far you’ve gone,

And I hope I’m not lost in your memory.

Everybody has their price.

They’ll sell you out and they won’t think twice.

But you were always true.

Their friendship has an empty ring.

But that’s not the kind of thing

That you would ever do.

So many times I got it wrong,

Never sure where I belong.

But you always knew.

This bottle and I have been up all night,

Wondering how to make things right

With you. Always you.
